The Highlanders made it back to the D2 state championship tournament last year. They first upset Clear Lake in the area semis which earned them a bid. While they were seeded in lowly 6th at state, which was questionable considering the level of play the Highlanders achieved, they took care of business by beating an overmatched LBJ of Austin. They lost by only two in the semis to eventual D2 champ Trinity. It was a good season, and they look to build on that ths year, as this young group got lots of great experience at playoff level.
