     This will be a brand new team starting up at Westside High School, which is on Briar Forest just east of Highway 6 in west Houston. Mindy Willeford, formerly one of the Lamar JV coaches, will be the head coach.They will play JV level their first year, and already have some players with experience from playing on nearby teams (Bellaire, the Ladycats, etc.) for last couple of years.
     Its exciting to see the concept that Westside HS administration is taking. This new program has the backing of the school, with the athletic director stating that they see no difference between club and UIL sports; rather, all sports are considered one and same. Lacrosse team will have an athletic period during the school day schedule to meet, and are already assured of having field space to practice and play.
